Richard Renta started his career as a paramedic in 1998. In 2002 he became an Advanced Care Paramedic. He has held several roles from Community Liaison Paramedic, Bike Medic, and Preceptor. He has held several leadership positions from (A) Superintendent/Supervisor in Operations, Platoon Leader in Operations, and (A) Superintendent/Supervisor in Professional Practice and Education. He spent 2015 to 2021 working in the Professional Practice and Education unit. He was responsible for recruitment and onboarding of new hires. Richard was able to improve the recruitment process, while simultaneously managing an innovative new program for the student preceptorship program. Due to the improved process, the onboarding process became streamlined. Through innovation, the use of technology, along with the strategic analysis of the processes and workflow, Richard was able to cut costs while developing a successful program. He also delivered educational topics during Professional Development days, which consisted of training and education of 500+ paramedics.
Richard is a firm believer in collaboration and partnerships. In an effort to improve communication and collaboration between the numerous EMS educators in the province of Ontario Richard developed a forum for the exchange of ideas and information which was called the Ontario Paramedic Educators Network (OPEN). Richard specializes in project management, adult education and instructional design. He is a proven facilitator and educator having taken numerous courses developing his skills.
In 2019, Richard was awarded with the Governor General's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Exemplary Service medal. The medal recognizes professionals in the provision of pre-hospital emergency medical services to the public, who have performed their duties in an exemplary manner, characterized by good conduct, industry and efficiency. Recipients must have been employed with emergency medical services, and have completed 20 years of exemplary service, including at least 10 years in the performance of duties involving potential risk.
In his personal life, Richard is the proud father of a seven year old boy. Richard enjoys photography and currently runs a separate business as a photographer. He enjoys the outdoors, travelling, hiking, and considers himself a bit of a foodie. Richard is also a huge Blue Jay fan!! He loves watching the Blue jays in person.
